FK Panevėžys has secured its future with talented left-back Dovydas Balsys. The first professional contract of the 17-year-old Panevėžys native will run for three years.

Last year, Balsys made his debut in the national championship at just 16 years of age, becoming the youngest player of that season. In the 2025 Lithuanian A Lyga season, the defender has made four appearances.

A graduate of the FK Panevėžys Football Academy, Balsys played a much more prominent role in the I Lyga while representing the club’s B team, scoring two goals in 27 matches. Wearing the first-team jersey, he also featured in the FPRO LFF Cup match against Vilnius-based Trivartis, where he celebrated a brace.

“After signing my first professional contract, I’m really happy and will continue to work hard to improve even further. Yes, I have thought about it, because my dream is to become a professional footballer."
