Kauno Žalgiris midfielder Artūras Dolžnikovas is set to begin his international career — he will now play in the top tier of Czech football, representing SK Sigma Olomouc, the Kaunas club announced on Monday evening.

Negotiations for the 24-year-old attacking midfielder, represented by AG Consulting and Management, began at the end of last year but took time, as the player was still under contract with Kauno Žalgiris. Eventually, the Lithuanian club and the Czech team reached an agreement on the transfer fee and other additional terms.

"My years in Kaunas were truly great — Kauno Žalgiris gave me the opportunity to grow and take a step to a higher level. I'm very grateful to the club for that, but I believe the time has come to test myself abroad," said A. Dolžnikovas in his farewell message.

The midfielder joined Kauno Žalgiris from Vilnius ahead of the 2023 season and went on to make 64 official appearances for the club over two years, scoring 6 goals and providing 9 assists.
